Arguing in slow motion

Hello everyone, I'm Julie

My husbsnd and I are from different countries and speak different languages. although he speaks english pretty good, and understands what your saying when spoken in a normal conversation.

But if you talk really fast and throw in slang words that are not common he doesn't understand a word you're saying.

We were having a heated argument and come to find out after all was said and done, he had no idea what i had said to him in the heat of the monent.

so the next time we had an argument I had to yell at him in slow motion saying and improvising each word said. I think back at this time and find it comical. just picture being really upset with someone and you just want to get it all out and release everything. and try doing it in slow motion...LOL It really doesn't work all that well and not all that satisfying either..

but at least he understood everything I had to say..

This is so funny. We have an almost reverse situation in my family. My husbands been in the states for years and speaks very good English. He understands everything I say... screaming... yelling.... few curse words. L o L, but when he gets angry and starts running his chops.... no one can understand a word he is saying... with the exception of one bad word, and he is speaking English.  He is just speaking too fast. The kids and I just shake our heads....  we laugh about it all the time.,  happens all the time in the car, he is a very impatient driver.

That's funny Elaine, Hubby and I we laugh about it too. How are things going for you, did spring ever roll around yet?

We have had a few nice days, but today is cold.

I have the same issue with my wife but we do not scream and shout so much, however when it has happened she is able [as am I] to read facial gestures and body language. Usually you can tell the person is upset because of the tone in the voice and the pressed accentuation of the language, even if you can't understand a word they say

Yes thats a given we can always tell if one is up set by their body language.  We dont make a habit of yelling at each other we are normally pretty good at talking out or discussing what we want to get across to each other.  Then we both make the needed adjustment to make us both happy in the end.

Yes body language and tone is usually a dead givaway especially if its a spouse. On the other hand....It's not always been easy for me to depict if excited Arab men are conversating or arguing when speaking to each other. The men from arab cultures seem to always use hand gestures during any conversation with each other, heated or not.
