Common misconceptions and clichés about life in Jordan

I have no idea what kind of clichés exist for the Jordanians.

What I do know is for the Arabic people in general:
Potential terrorists and kidnappers. When I told my friends and family about the emigration,  I never had heard more rubbish in my whole life. I felt ashamed and disappointed about the so called facts they digged up from the media and "real life stories" instead of just asking.

But I see the opposite: kind, warm, friendly, sharing and most hospitality people I ever encountered. Yes, they have faults too just like any other nations.

Ask the family of the Christian journalist who recently was on trial for blasphemy in Jordan and was murdered outside the courthouse as his trial was about to begin.

That's the kind of evil you expect from other M.E. countries. To have it happen in Jordan is a tragedy. Needless to say, I've revised my travel plans.

This kind of evil you find everywhere and unfortunately Jordan is not an exception.
But it  is rare that these kind of criminal activities happen.
So there is no need to revise your travel plans unless you insist. Jordan in general is a safe country with beautiful views and wonderful people.
Don't let you scared off by one incident.

I agree with Primadonna, no need to revise travel plans. Jordan is a beautiful, welcoming, and safe country to visit.  I have no problem encouraging my own family and friends to do so.  Living here I can vouch for its safety and welcoming attitude.  There are wackos everywhere.
