Don't know about Italy, but Bahrain's cost of living is similar to your neighbors Spain.

May be see if you can carry tons of Jamón!

1600bd is a good salary if everything else is added on - quite a good package - would ask if health insurance is also included.

Bahrain is only expensive if you want to live the life of luxury (which many do) - you can shop for food in the markets etc and having a husband who is a chef has to be a bonus, petrol is cheap, cheap and yes alcohol is expensive but not much more than the UK.

Yeah, it's only for probation, if he pass, the employer said, there will be a new contract. because all of us (me and 2 children) will move there.
about the food....don't worry, at this moment we bored with pasta, pancetta, etc.. lol. the only problem for him..only for the wines. but he'll get used to it.
