Rental agreement for getting padron

I will be moving to barcelona from india sometime in january. Could you please let me know whether three month rental agreement is sufficient to get the padron.

The padron is the list of people living in a town.

If you move to a town, the first day you are living there. So a rental contact would prove that.

I am reading in the internet that minimum 6 month rental agreement is required. Is it true?
