richadkdc

Hello,

We are thinking about moving to Lisbon next summer from Canada. My son will be in grade 10 at that time. Just wanted some recommendations on good International schools that teach Canadian Curriculum. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Most International's are bilingual (Portuguese/ English) and some offer IB diploma for secondary (ages 16-18).

There is only one Canadian school with facilities in Estoril and in Porto. It's called the Maple Bear.

Thank you So much.

Do you know of anyone with school age kids?

Does anyone on this Forum know of anyone with kids in Carlucci American International School of Lisbon? Thank you

Why? Well, this list is neither exhaustive nor definitive. And a lot of support has already been given here...

Maple Bear is not part of any international school.  Is part of a Portuguese private school. In Lisbon area, is the Colégio D. Luisa Sigea in Estoril.

Are you aware of the Portuguese education system and structure?

Planning to move son grade 10 in Canada ( frencH immersion) to Lisbon- Any help with teh school to chose ?

sheedalim

Just ot be clear, he got an invitation from a Soccer club and will love to move him to Lisbon- to play and school. Having a good school is a top priority. I'm not even sure if we can get him imto a french immersion school. Boarding school is also preffered.

JohnnyPT

In post #3 above, there is some info about the Lycée Français Charles Lepierre (LFCL) in Lisbon.

https://www.lfcl.pt/

But the soccer club itself can advise you on the best study solution for your child.

Since he is moving for soccer, you should also look at schools that partner with major clubs, as these often provide the flexible scheduling elite athletes need:

United Lisbon International School (ULIS): Offers The United Lisbon Academy in partnership with Sporting CP for football.

Investigate other Boarding Schools for Language: Contact St. Peter's International School and King's College School to ask specifically about curriculum options.

Thank you. Someone mentioned BGA ( it’s a combine of virtual and in- claaa school). I have mixed feelings as I have heard good and bad reviews about them. Does anyone have more info about them?  Do universities accept their students, especially Canadian universities?

with that learning mode, my son can play soccer and also go to school.

JohnnyPT

This school could be a good option for your child. University entrance exams are external to the school, and the BGA curriculum is the British international curriculum. BUT admission to Portuguese universities is not allowed. I believe that in Canada this will be possible. You will have to check it.

Here are more details about how this school works. You need to translate it.
