We are in unit 13. It looks pretty well finished but no indication of when the town will issue occupancy permits.

The answer is always next week. But they were saying this back in January when we travelled to Portugal to occupy the condo to only find out it was not finished.

Now waiting for my lawyer to go directly to the town to find out if a) they have submitted the paperwork and b) what is the hold up

Yes, I know some buildings say they're finished, but they're not. There's still a lot to be done, both inside the common areas (installing fire extinguishers, etc.) and outside (repainting the walls because they already have "white spots" on the gray paint, adding the building number, finishing the gardens, etc.).

It seems the builder left it abandoned... still unfinished.

Do you know anything about these matters?

If you've bought a flat there and aren't receiving any updates, wouldn't it be better to get in touch:

- The property developer

- The estate agent who brokered the purchase (if applicable)

- The local authorities (Câmara Municipal de Portimão) to check the status of the building licence...?

It is obvious that people are having the same problem as others have said it will be a year before it's completed. @JohnnyPT has advised on who else to contact; no one here are lawyers that can help on this matter.

As there are possibly others (but not me)  interested you could start a support group website, surprised there is no one already,  for people with a similar conundrum to yours. Then maybe move in a collective way which probably has more influence than randomly firing emails.
