Hey everyone,

A new law on foreigners has been voted i January 2026. It is more strict than before, so you need to check this out before moving here.

Among the most notable changes from the previous law:

Residency based on Property ownership is possible if the value of the property is min. 150.000€
Residency based on company creation : min. 5.000€ taxes per year must be paid.

Yes, it is correct: citizens of the EU, EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), and Switzerland are exempt from the new minimum property value requirement for obtaining a temporary residence permit in Montenegro.
