Rental agreement

Jocaslopes

Hey :)
I will rent a bedroom in Malta, although I will sign a contract not with the landlord but with someone who already lives in the apartment. How can I guarantee that the contract agreement is legal, and I will have my deposit back by the end of the rental agreement? I need some tips and advices, please :)

The first thing I would check is that the Landlord is aware of the subletting and is OK with it. If not, then the person you are renting from is not in a position to do so!

And after the contract is signed the landlord has to take it to someone to notify it, right?

Lease contracts have to be registered with Inland Revenue but it rarely ever happens!

Thank you very much :)

its a MUST now since April 1st 2017 that lets have to be registered with the tax authority

if the landlord doesnt know about the existing tenant is usually breaking his contract with him by doing so and could lead to problems and even if the LL does agree to it he may want more cash anyway

so check it all out first and dont do anything until you are sure
