Prescriptions and doctors fees

hi my husband and myself are thinking of relocating to malta and we have a child with adhd and mild autism my son is on methylphenidate hydrochloride and bio melotonin and i have a daughter on calcichew d3 forte tablets and movicol and they have to regularly have to see doctors and specialist would we need to pay for these and if so roughly how much are prescriptions and doctors appointments

prescriptions are either free (means tested or specific illness based) or you pay cost - there is no fixed price prescription fee like the UK

What about GP or family doctors?

Is there a public one or only private? I moved from UK and need a regular prescription every month.

anyone knows?

the same doctors are both private and public - private if you call them to your house, or visit their place, public if see at polyclinic

there are a number of public health centres and a number of private ones if your working or have the rha you wouldnt need to pay to use the public health centres

Hi,

Not sure about yours son's medication but for you daughter the calcichew d3 you can get and for the Movicol the regular one is available. If she is on the pediatric one there is only one chemist who supplies it.. Also they will not give pediatric moivcol out under the free health care

Depending on your kids conditions you might be able to get some of their medication free.. For my daughter we get nothing due to her condition being so rare and it costs over 100 a month..So make sure you see what conditions are covered..

H, you can pay to see a doctor which is anything around £8-£12 or you can go to the free clinics if you don't mind the wait in the waiting area. If you want to see a specialist private it is quite costly. If you want to see one for free you will have to wait for a while, my son was on a 7 month waiting list for a specialist. Bring as much meds from uk as you can to cover you if your doctor will give you them. You can apply for the yellow card once u have seen a specialist but not all meds are covered on it, most of my sons arnt and I have to pay which is quite costly.
