considering moving to malta - where to visit?

chumbechick

Hi everyone,
I'm considering a future move to Malta (I've been an expat in other countries for 20 years, but looking to move a bit closer to UK, where I come from, as my folks get older). I've never been to Malta before and I'm planning to visit this summer for a short reckie. I'll only have 5 days or so (initial trip, more later hopefully), but would appreciate any advice on where I should check out that might suit me somewhere down the line (?)
I'm not a big city person, but I'd like to be near a town where I can get to know people and where there is enough going on to have a bit of a social life. I LOVE live music (rock, jazz, funk variety), if there are any places that regularly host live music gigs (?), and love sea views, coastlines, water sports, good restaurants, good wine, chilled living. (who doesn't!? :o)   A bit of an expat scene would be great, and a place where its possible to settle into the local life, but a bit outside of the hustle and bustle, and definitely on the coast.
Hope that all makes sense :)
Thanks for any top tips on which places I should visit? Both Malta and Gozo islands are appealing.
Cheers.
