Parcels arriving in damaged condition

MaltaCommando

I've been using MaltaPost for sending parcels for my eBay sales for a while now, but lately I have had some bad experiences, namely 3 parcels have been very badly damaged. I understand it is normal for a parcel now and then to arrive in bad condition, but 3 in a two weeks is a bit too much. Some of these were registered, others not.

Can I claim to MaltaPost some sort of refund? most probably they have been mistreated by the other foreign postal service, not MaltaPost itself (I don't think they got damaged from St.Paul's Bay to Luqa).

I have read some times that if you don't inspect previously the parcel you can't ask for a compensation, but does this also apply to MaltaPost?

One of the parcels that was going to USA has even arrived with a sticker that says "Delivered in damaged condition".

It seems that only if you use the Malta post "EMS international courier" service do you get insurance cover ....

Otherwise the recipient will need to make a claim.
