Pensions from UK. A question.

GuestPoster566

If one receives State/MOD/Govt pensions and is currently living outside Malta, thus freezing the levels of payment of those pensions; if one moves to Malta will those pensions then be increased?

E,g, UK citizen, moving from Thailand to Malta receiving State pension.

Thanks :)

It is a good question.
IF you move back to the UK you start to get the increases so I guess that would apply to any EU country.

Toon

sounds reasonable to me.

First of all, please do not SHOUT!!! (It's called netiquette.)
Secondly, this is a thread for a specific question, you need to ask your pension provider and a financial advisor. Thank you :)

Sorry, 'double tapped'.

Toon

wow thats one helluva echo....

biddy

To obtain information about your British pension you quote your NHI number and write to The Pension Service, Tyneview Park, International Pension Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE98 1BA, England. Hope this helps.

or
e-mail - tvp.internationalqueries@thepensionservice.gov.uk

Now you have them all.

GuestPoster566

biddy, you're a star!!:thanks: I'll look them up tomorrow.

GuestPoster566

I shall have to contact them and ask because the guidance states that if you return to the UK the pension will revert.
It also states you can receive it in EU countries which of course includes Malta.
What it does not say is what happens if one travels from outside EU where pension is frozen directly into the area. In this case Thailand direct to Malta. Thanks.

We came from South Africa to Malta and received the increases immediately - having informed them of our movements prior to relocating!

That's excellent and I hope that my friend, if he decides to relocate permanently, gets the same treatment.

(Please ignore any interpreted doubt in my posts, that's just me; I tend to be overly concerned with detail and evidence, a legacy of previous careers.)

I don't suppose you got any 'back pay' for the missing years, did you?

biddy

Nope. That would be pushing it a bit!!
