Gas cylinders

GianC

Hi all

Does anyone know what is the procedure for requiring a new gas cylinder for the first time? What are the costs?

Is it true that when the gas cylinder will be empty, I would need leaving outside in my doorstep?

Thank You

You can go to teh Main Gas offices near the freeport to get the Cylinder or wait to see one of the guys that drive round.  I just get mine from the Liquidgas offcies so dont know about the Doorstep thing.

Just go to the lorry and ask for one they will charge you 25 euros deposit (make sure you get a vat receipt from the driver) and then charge you 16.90 i think for the gas contents - you will then need to buy a regulator and hose which can be bought form a hardware shop for about a tenner.

We have ours delivered and we can buy the regulator from them also.
Is this only on Gozo?
We leave the empty cylinder and money in an envelope outside the apartment by the roadside and they just do the business. If we are there we ask them to bring it up for us, due to my difficulties.

they have regular stops in all the streets - so you just approach the driver.  they will also carry the bottles up your stairs for a small fee if there is no lift and you have difficulties (50c) - theyre very good like that, but can be a bit remiss on issuing deposit receipts - if you have one you can return the bottle and get the deposit back.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

The gas lorry goes down triq victoria in Qormi towards the St Sanbastian Church on Thursday and Friday mornings around 8am. Not sure whether it drives around the whole neighbourhood but you will be able to hear his hooter from a mile away! Which part of Qormi are you in?

Actually, I am not anymore in Qormi. I moved to Bugibba. Anyway, thanks for the information.
