looking for babysitter

Hi, just moved and looking for a general babysitter for children aged 7 and 11 (so less of the "baby" part of the sitting!) Ive no fixed hours as just need someone to call on if I get a chance to go out in the evenings or weekends. If anyone can recommend that would be great.

I'll be happy to assist you if the offer is still standing, I myself take care of my two nieces, I speak fluent english and solid knowledge in child education, I've graduated a University teaching module, I am a reliable person and a familist. I could use a temporary job until I settle.

Hi silvius,

welcome to the forum.

Talking about a temporary job means that you would require a work permit being from Romania?

Are you already on the island or are just intending to come to Malta?

Hi Ricky, well I'm not entirely familiarized with maltese work legislation but since I am an EU citizen I naturally assumed the procedures won't be that much tedious. At the current time I am in Romania but by the end of February I'll be in Malta. If you have some info regarding this aspect or a site where I can find accomodation please let me kno.

Hi Silvius,

Romania is a memberstate of the EU but there are still requirements for work permits. For details see :

Whether the procedure is tedius depends on your qualification/work experience. If they think you are taking a job that a Maltese or EU citizen could do then they will most likely deny the application by the employer. You cannot apply yourself.

This also affects the application for residency that has to be effected within 3 months after arrival and depends on a work contract or economic self-sufficiency and also proof of health insurance coverage.
