Issues on Renewing Residency

BlueOctupus

On attempting to renew my residency I was told that I had a few time periods

when I should have been in Malta. I explained that I had personal circumstances

for my absence but this didn't seem to be acceptable. There was a very genuine

reason for my absence and it happened a few years ago.

I'm not sure how I can remedy this. Do I increase the number of months I stay

in Malta this year to cover the lost months a few years ago ?

Can you clarify your basis for having residency?

I would assume  you will have to apply the same way as a new hopeful resident.  Until you receive residency you can only stay for ninety days unless you have an EU passport.

Assuming your resdency is as a UK Citizen under the withdrawal agreement then you are good for 10 years, if not you are too late and have to apply as a TCN. If it is a change of address you have to prove you have not been out of the country for more than 6 months in any year sinc 2021. They are not very flexible on this!

Thank you to all who replied.

Yes it is a  change of address so it doesn't look hopeful !
