Can I collect il permesso di soggiorno after the collection date?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in Italy, my appointment to submit my documents for il permesso di soggiorno will be on February, and most probably the collection date will be in April, but I will have to leave Italy temporary before April and I will return after 3-4 months. Will it be okay to leave the country and return after this period? knowing that my multiple entry visa will still be valid, and would it be okay to collect my permesso di soggiorno after the collection date?
