Indian Food in Düsseldorf

Coming to Germany is a very good opportunity to try GERMAN food, rather than searching for Indian fare (which will inevitably be expensive and not as good as at home).

I don't know Düsseldorf well enough to give specific tips but I disagree that Indian food is overly expensive in Germany. It depends on the poshness of the restaurant.

The problem is often a lack of selection since while Indian restaurants do exist, there are few compared to the number of German, Italian, Turkish, Chinese and even Thai. Many of these have very low budget places since there is so much competition. In Stuttgart at least, most of the Indian places are middle budget; neither expensive but not super cheap either. What has gotten less common over the years but still exists are somewhat fancier places that offer great week day (Monday to Friday) lunch time specials. Often they have a selection of dishes for 30 to 40% cheaper than what they charge in the evening. Another possibility is all you can eat buffets.
