Expat living in Germany trying to open a company abroad

karantinmk19

Hi,

I am an expat living in Germany under blue card visa and working as a full-time employee.

I am planning to open a company abroad in my home country (non-EU) but I am concerned if this is possible. I have a few questions:

- Will this affect my blue card visa ?
- Do I need to pay/report taxes if I am not an employee but only a "Founder" (no salary paid to me, no dividends).
- Do I need to inform my employer?

Thank you.

There are, as far as I know, no German rules against this.
But you need to report any imcome from the business in your German tax declaration and, unless a bilateral tax treaty with your country specifies otherwise, pay German income tax on it (in addition to any tax due in your country).

But please check with your employer if they permit this (and get their reply in writing!): Full time employers are entitled to your full work effort and thus do not have to tolerate any side job (and many will say No)!

This was really helpful. Thank you very much.

I will inform my employer and about taxes my question was in the case i have no income (not employed there, no dividends paid)
