Moving to Estonia as a Digital Nomad: sharing my tax setup comparison

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to complete my journey as a digital nomad by finally setting up my base in Estonia. I’m currently looking at the transition and would love to get some local advice from expats already on the ground in Tallinn or Tartu.

Before making the jump, I spent a lot of time researching the business and tax side. Since Estonia is the holy grail for remote founders, I compared several solutions to handle my international taxes and company setup (specifically Xolo, Companio, Enty, and Heavnn).

For anyone in the same boat, here is my quick feedback:

Xolo & Companio: Excellent if you just want to run a simple Estonian OÜ (company) with standard e-Residency needs.

Enty: Very neat dashboard for day-to-day admin.

Heavnn: This is the one that won me over. As a nomad, my personal tax residency is quite complex (multi-jurisdiction liabilities), and they actually cover the personal tax optimization side and cross-border compliance, which the other tools don't really touch.

Now that the tax side is mostly sorted, I have a few questions for the community:

Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) vs. E-Residency: For those who actually moved, did you go with the DNV or did you just set up your EU company via e-Residency and travel on tourist/Schengen limits?

Community & Co-working: What are the best hubs in Tallinn to connect with other remote founders? I heard about LIFT99, are there other spots you'd recommend?

Accommodation: Is it easy to find short-term rentals (3-6 months) outside of Airbnb, or is that still the best option?

Looking forward to your tips and happy to share more details on my tax software comparison if anyone is interested!

Cheers!
