Marriage between Non Muslim & Muslim Foreigners

NKV7171

Hi all... My lover and I are Malaysians and live in Malaysia. She is a non-practising Muslim and I am a Hindu. We cannot marry in Malaysia unless I convert to Islam. I rather not.

She will be imprisoned if she applies to renounce Islam.

Does the UK allow interfaith marriages without any prohibition? So we would like to see if we could get eventually married there.

Any advice is appreciated.

In Love...

Welcome to the Forum :)

I noticed that you posted the same question on another Forum.

Well first of all England does allow interfaith marriages.

But this is the part you don't want to hear, you will have to contact the Embassy for proof that you have not been married before. I am pretty sure this is the same practice in all countries.

Religion is the most beautiful and the worst invention of humanity.

Many countries in the world freely allow marriages of different religious denominations.

But that will not change the bottom of the problem. That is relations with your family (family, friends, colleagues, ...). You will be regularly confronted with dilemmas. Here is the real difficulty.

In conclusion, I wish you to find your paradise on earth. But alas change of country will not necessarily solve the situation.

Thanx for the prompt reply mate. Yes, we are looking at a few places. Looks like we gotta sort out that letter from the Embassy. Will look for a Non Muslim staff on duty perhaps.
Do we have to reside in the UK for any specified period ?

To answer your specific question; yes, you can get married in the UK.  You will have to leave afterwards (maximum of 6 months).  Neither of you can work while in the UK on this visa.

Thanx Cynic...We do not intend to work or live in the UK .

I dont think its a problem to marry in UK. If anyone of you were married before in home country you need to get only court divorce papers. Or if you are still married have to divorce ex partners from UK court or if never married you are free to marry. Its not an issue.
