Possible move to the UK

I live in Canada, I do have British Citizenship (by descent) and a British Passport.  My 2 younger kids do not have anything but Canadian Passports.  Am I able to bring them easily? And with my documentation am I able to live and work?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

British citizens can bring non-nationality children (under 18) to live in the UK by applying for a family visa, provided they show sole or shared parental responsibility, adequate maintenance without public funds, and suitable accommodation. The child must not be married, in a civil partnership, or living an independent life.

Details on applying for a family visa can be found on the UK Gov website; this link will take you straight to it.

UK citizens have the right to live and work anywhere in the UK and Ireland.

I hope this helps.

Why don't you simply try and get UK passports for your children?

My kids are dual nationals of Hungary and the UK.   Canada and UK allow dual nationality.

My kids don't have any restrictions on their passports or right to work and live in the UK.

There could be issues with THEIR kids if they had some but both of them are too young and disinterested for that. There is a quirky thing that if one of your parents was British and you inherited British nationality from them, there is sometimes a question about grandchildren. I assume you and your kids never lived in the UK.  This is a problem.  Best to ask the Embassy cum High Commission.

My 2nd daughter (British) lives near Toronto and is married to an Irishman.  If she and him had a kid, that kid could have Irish, British and Canadian nationality.  Nothing wrong with that.

I also have an Australian-British niece who is married to an Emirati guy - they have two kids and both of them are Emirati and British citizens and quite possibly Australian too.  Again, nothing wrong with that.

So long as you are British, and you were married to the mother at some point, then your kids should be British too  IF you ever lived in the UK for 3 years or more before the children were born.   It's not impossible for your kids to be British but it's certainly trickier.
