Visa to look after my disabled wife in england

Toni hala

Hello, i am a moroccan man who is due to marry my partner at the end of the year. She is disabled and in reciept of employment and support allowence (support group) and personal independent payment (PIP) with high rate mobility (she gets a mobility car as her mobility is severely affected) and low rate care. I am wanting to know what the rules are around applying for a visa and being accepted (costs of visa, savings criteria, earnings criteria) i am on a very low income (£200 a month) but i am highly skilled in the restaurant trade and spent 5 years in collage to gain various diplomas (diploma hotel school catering service, and kitchen service restaurant, head of front of house, silver service, waiting on, speaks 6 different languages to give the best service to varied different nationalities) i am very good at my job and lots of experience and glowing references. So id like to think i wouldnt struggle to find a job, but i will initially be caring for my wife to be as she is struggling alone at the minute and has to pay for carers out of her benefits. Is there any help available to waiver the visa application costs or at least get help with it as it would take us years to save up for it and my wife to be needs my help now as she has no family to help her. We have tons and tons of evidence on facebook, whatsaap, hours and hours of facetimecalls (at least 4 hours a day) she came to visit me for a total of 3 times this year and we are desperate to be together.  Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

From what you've said, you already know what's required to get a visa, but are hoping for help with the costs.

To be frank, based on your skill-set, you won't get a work visa and your only option is a family visa (on which you can also work).  There is a provision for her disability allowances to be used to prove "adequate maintenance" instead of the "financial requirement", but I can't find any reduction in the actual visa application cost.  I suggest she contacts her Member of Parliament to ask him/her to intercede on her behalf with the Home Office to see what if anything can be done to help you.

Hope this helps.
