Education is free.  Also, if your son does not speak Danish he will be in a reception class to assist him in learning Danish and assimilating to Danish culture. 

The other questions I cannot assist on with first hand knowledge.  I do suggest that you look at airbnb for somewhere to live short-term while you are straightening out employment, and so forth.

My husband and I are also coming to Denmark under the greencard scheme.  We have two daughters and using airbnb have located a 2-month rental in Vesterbro very close to the Vesterbro Ny Skole where our oldest daughter will be in the reception class. 

My plan is that our first full day there we will apply for our CPR numbers, register our temporary address, apply for tax cards, and get our girls registered in school. 

Our second day there depends on whether or not we have lined up professional employment before we get there.  If not, at least I will be applying for unskilled work at all of the large hotels along and near Vesterbrogade, to keep us financially until we can find professional employment. 

From everything I have read, it is a lot easier to find non-professional employment (cleaning, cooking, etc.), at least until one learns Danish.
