Driving test in Paphos with a learner permit issued in Limassol

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused about the driving test procedure in Cyprus and would appreciate some advice.

I got my learner's permit in Limassol, but I'm currently taking driving lessons in Paphos. I have already managed to book my practical driving test in Paphos through the official TOM system.

However, my instructor says that I need to change my address and transfer my file to the Paphos District Transport Department before taking the test.

I can't find any official rule stating that a learner permit issued in one district prevents you from taking the practical test in another district. Since the system allowed me to book the test in Paphos, I'm wondering whether this is actually required by the Road Transport Department or just an administrative preference.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Did you take your practical test in a different district from where your learner permit was issued?

Were you asked to change your address or transfer your file?

Thanks!

Can't comment on the first issue of the driver's licence, but the renewals need to be done at the MOT office in the district you live in.

These renewals are reviewed by the same driving examiner that does the tests, and they tend to fixate on the administrative details (my recent renewal in Limassol was almost rejected because I provided copies of my electrical bill to prove I lived in Limassol district for 6 months as per the instructions and not the original ones sent by email which was most definitely not in the instructions and wasn't even an issue when my wife renewed in Larnaca a month before).

So, your instructor may be saying this because it is an administrative requirement knowing that the examiner may reject the application simply because you are not a "resident" of Paphos district.
