Cardiac cover

Hi, has anyone any experience of moving to Cyprus with an existing heart condition? As I’m too young for GESY and health insurance won’t cover existing conditions, how have others got cardiac cover/support? We’re moving to Paphos area, thanks .

Hello Kevin,

This forum is quite active, so you should receive feedback quickly.

In the meantime, although I cannot guarantee the availability of a specific coverage like cardiac insurance, you can request a free quote from one of our insurance partners here: https://www.expat.com/en/insurance/europe/cyprus/

There are plenty of cardiac consultants in Paphos. I had an implanted heart monitor with a failed battery. I called and was seen the next day for a full check-up then referred to Limassol and saw the consultant the next day. Then the old was removed and a new one implanted all within 1 week!

If I have any issues I have the mobile number for the consultant to call and he will see me the same day.

Given this I would not pay extra for specific cover. The medical system here is night and day compared with the UK. You can even get a hip or knee replacement op in a few weeks!

@phildraper sounds good. Do you know if any other heart related issues would be covered by insurance ? Say you needs a bypass, would that be excluded because you have a heart monitor?
