Questionnaire on Digital Nomadism

shahanazPhD

Hello! My name is Shahanaz, and I am a PhD student in Migration Studies who studies the relationship between remote work and international mobility. The objective of the study is to learn if, why, and to what extent, digital workers travel to countries other than the country of their employers or their country of origin.I have prepared a questionnaire which will take no more than 5 minutes to answer, and I would appreciate it greatly if the users of this website could dedicate the time to provide responses to it.

The questionnaire can be found at this link:

As for me I do find a feedback topic useful.

See I did check out the questionnaire but because currently I do not work remote (well mostly/ as main work - just irregulary-temporary as contract based) hardly can fill that.

But plan to became some sort of digital nomad.

Key takeaways:

    I. In many regard that can be useful to settle in the city/ at least country where the         employer is: just in case when needfs to turn up personally from time to time, or take care of business in person. Also can be useful when a corporate office reachable.

II. In many cases to settle abroad (either in the employer's country, or elsewhere) I believe the motivation of the employee:

  1. Settle in a different country/ culture/ way of life than his/ her original. Something which is either more liked, or offers some new experience/ variety. (Or just btw a better holiday spot, like tropical/ escape from winter.)
  2. Financial resons: The money earned by the remote work may or may not considered good the remote worker's home country, but quite sufficent, or considered wealthy somewhere else.

I can speak on my behalf: my future plan is something like this:

Live in a different country of my choosing, when my income comes from somewhere else and my main motivation is: a country where culture, way of life, everyday life is different, and from a distance seems more liked. Off course the other points mentioned are also can be attractive ones.
