Hello forum, Ziggy here! I'm in my mid 40's.

I'm planning to move down mid August. I'm flying down from the Illinois on the 17th. I would like to secure a rental home for my first year or 6 months. I'm divorced, so it's just me and my cat. I'd looking for a spacious, quiet home preferably furnished. Privacy and nature would be idyllic. I'm trying not to spend over $2000 a month since I won't be building equity. I also seek a Spanish teacher or school. More importantly, I could use a Spanish speaking assistant. I could also use assistance with getting my drivers license. I've heard I can't just trade in my current one and it can be a difficult process. Helping me call prospective landlords, properties, car sellers, utility complaints etc. would be amazing. If anyone is willing, please let me know what you would need for compensation. Info about what to look for while rental hunting (cistern, generator, storm windows etc.) could really help. Transportation info and help would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I could use all the help I can get! Lol. I'm already overwhelmed. Thanks for having me. I hope to meet you all!

Welcome to PR. We have been here for 15 years on and off and don't speak Spanish, so an assistant is helpful, though not a must. Expect to pay $10 - $15 an hour. What area are you looking to live in? The cost will vary substantially based on that.

Your driver's license is not much more complex than at any other DMV around the country. You need the usual stuff. You do need your mainland license. A couple of utility bills with your PR address, a passport or birth certificate, and a Social Security card. The latter seems to be a more important ID than it is in the States.

There is no question you need a car. Public transport is almost non-existent.

well welcome both im actually retiring in salinas en coco by the military base licensed my understanding from my relative and someone in youtube no road or test get your driving record from your motor vichicle dept for housing rental contact***

You will need a passport for driver license otherwise you wont get the gold star neccessary to fly. They arent connected to any system in states to verify birth certificates.
