Has anyone had to get any eye care or new glasses in belize?

I can't belive no one has had to have any kind of eye care since they have move to Belize
I brought three pair of glasses with me from the states.  I have friends who went to Chetumal for eye care.
We like Dr. Valdez in Belize City. Reading glasses for me and prescription sunglasses for my husband.

I just bought glasses here in the states with no insurance. Two pair, non-designer frames and eye exam cost me about $ 140.00 US. With insurance it was going to cost (out of pocket) $ 168.00. Go figure?
