Welcome to the forum,
Since you're arriving in Dec, my suggestion is to find an Airbnb room for the first few weeks.
Later you can find a good long-term accommodation, not too far from your workplace/school, through local search.
You may also wish to check the Saigon Housing section.

Traffic is hectic in Vietnam. You should really come here and stay in a temporary place until you find employment and then seek a residence near your employment location.
