Hi

I can rent bigger bikes in Hanoi / Saigon. Would I get into trouble? I thought the limit was 175 cc?

Thanks!

The limit is 170cc for the first class of VN licence, but they have another class for bigger capacity bikes. Since VN is a siganatory to the International Driving Convention, I don't expect that you'll have any trouble, as long as you Int'l Driving Permit covers your 650cc moto.

As an aside, VN used to have a limit of 50cc for riders over 60 years of age, but that got cancelled over ten years ago. No policeman now has any problems with my riding my 125cc at 70 years of age.

Thank you for your answer. Enjoy riding. It clears the head, doesn't it?

Pardon my ignorance, is there another mountain region near Hanoi besides MOC CHAU?

Your ok with international license, you can ride to Sapa or Ha Giang.

The whole of the north north west between Hanoi and the Chinese border is mountains, thousands of square kms of them. Some good youtube videos of bike rides through them.

Owning such a bike would be out of the question, wouldn't it?

Is the Police afraid of bikers being faster than them? (Saw Lamborghini as cop cars in Dubai)
