Applying Visa with New System Online Payment Issue
I got my first new 90 days single entry visa & it took ME all of 1 minute to send a message to my agent. No stress, no multiple attempts on Immigration web site. Easy!!!
@goodolboy That's great but the government website exists for a reason. It should work. People with no experience applying for a visa will not be aware of the issues and not know they need to go through an agent.

What's your point?
By that I mean, what's the point of your point?
You are obviously right when considering the situation from a purely rational viewpoint.
But rational western viewpoints in Việt Nam will quite often lead to unnecessary upset and frustration.
We could investigate and debate the new requirements and website for months or even years, but someone with over 14 years experience in Việt Nam (goodolboy) and myself (1+5 years experience) believe the best advice we can give anyone is to use a trustworthy agent, especially if it's a person's first visit to this country.
Reasoning through what should happen in Việt Nam when faced with what actually does happen here has caused many foreigners to give up their plans for an expat experience here in complete exasperation.
You certainly must be feeling great frustration, and many of us can definitely empathize with that.
Hopefully everything will work out well in your situation.

I know it's already been reported, but the quoting and editing function is really screwed up.
@OceanBeach92107
My point is people without your level of experience have followed government guidelines and experienced issues. It's not unreasonable for them to expect it to work or to look for a solution before re-applying through and agent.

As usual OB your on the ball & get straight to the point! Even through my trusted Visa agent I always book at least 2 weeks in advance to cover for any hic up's & when I see some of the posts here & on other sites from people having problems with visa's within days of their entry to Vietnam. The stupidity & naivety of it just makes me shake my head. Privately I have been contacted various forum members for help to contact my visa agent & as far as I know all have been successfully taken care of & for a very reasonable payment to the agent.
By the way just one point though, as of June 2023 its 15 happy years.
@Luke Harr Hi Luke, i dont see the facebook link anymore. can you maybe re send it? i would like to get in contact with an agent as well
@wouterk
Hey,
It looks like the moderator removed the link. You could try searching for the facebook group named: "Vietnam Visa Advice"
Thanks,
Luke

Better known as Troll Town or Scam City
While many members of expat.com's Vietnam forum have been using the services of agencies (some for many years, decades), it is important to understand that these agencies have earned their reputation of being trustworthy.
If you decide to provide to a 3rd party your (new eVisa application portal's) access code, ie. G01.XXX.XXX..., in order for the approved eVisa to be accessed and printed, that access code will not only provide details regarding the visit (which will be visible on the eVisa), it will also permit access to the completed/submitted eVisa application itself. All of the details submitted when the application was made for the eVisa will be then be accessible to that 3rd party.
Please exercise caution when dealing with 3rd party agencies/fixers with whom you may have no firsthand experience.
Most likely, a significant number of tourists/travellers are simply changing their travel plans and choosing to go somewhere else, following the path of least resistance.

Ah damn just reading this now.
I contacted my VN visa agent that I used pre-Covid. Single entry 90 day eVisa was 75USD, processing time 5-7 days. So I decided for peace of mind to just use them. Here is the info they required...
- Type of entry visa: Evisa Viet Nam
- 4x6 card photo with white background
- Passport valid for more than 6 months
- Contact address
- Current residence
- Phone number, email
- Current occupation
- Purpose of entry
- Intended time of residence
- Intended date of entry
- Expected border gate of entry, expected border gate of exit
- Residential address in Vietnam, contact phone number in Vietnam
- Have you been to Vietnam in the last year? Do you have relatives in Vietnam?
- Trip insurance cost: estimated cost, have you purchased trip insurance yet? Funding guarantor
- Emergency contact information
- + Full Name
- + Phone number
- + Contact address
- + Relationship
I asked if they submitted a form to the Department Immigration or used the online form. She said the online form, but not sure which one. Anyhow, will report back when I get a response.
edit: just remembers, I asked about medical insurance and she said it wasn't required

As usual as most forum members know already I used my well trusted & well used visa agent to get me my latest 90 days visa (single entry) the cost for the visa was 55usd usd & some of the questions below were not asked & never have been.
no photos cos they already have on file
nothing about border gate for exit ..............this is normally (from my experience) open ended as you can exit from anywhere you want.
nothing about insurance or funding guarantor...........I am on e visa # 10 & visa free number 3 & never been asked to prove insurance.

Very convenient, and as you said, your"...well trusted & well used visa agent...".
That $55USD. Does that include the $25USD single entry eVisa fee?

55 usd is the 90 days single entry to & from Vietnam including the agents fee.............like total 55 usd
Multi entry is 85usd total including agent fee, of course me & a few regulars will take the easy rout & go Moc Bai VIP.......125 usd all in for 90 days single.
So my visa was approved. Only took about 3 days. All details in previous post.

Glad to hear it, Salensis.
Others would do well by following your example and starting their eVisa application process well in advance. This applies whether the intention is to use an agent, or not.
Thank you for reporting back to the forum.

Actually OB I have another funny goodolboy story about my first visit to Vietnam (staying at the family house Trang Bang) & one afternoon/evening going to the casino's at Moc Bai/Bavet. But I wont bore you all with it!
Right now though I am trying to work my way through the minefield of finding & moving to a new apartment here at Celadon City & its a cautionary tale (as usual) for the un initiated to the Vietnamese property buying or renting market.
