Are quick visa runs still do-able?

I understand TL is changing the rules on visa runs. I'm a US citizen and I'm looking to come into TL on a tourist visa for about 3 weeks, then leaving to visit relatives in Vietnam for a week and return home using a flight from BKK. Will I need to get 2 tourist visa on entry (Will they still do that?) or do I need a multiple entry visa? Thank you in advance

Currently, Thailand offers a 60-day visa exemption. However, there was recently some news stating they were considering reducing this to 30 days again.


Maybe fly in with your tourist visa and then use the visa exemption when you return from VN?
