Hello and welcome to Expat.com 🙂

Could you tell us a little more about your plans? Are you looking to work, retire, start a business, or simply live in Thailand without working?

Also, do you already have a particular type of visa in mind?

These details will help our members provide advice that is more relevant to your situation.

All the best,

Happy to help, but there isn’t really one best route to living in Thailand. It depends on your age, finances, work situation and what you actually want to do here.

A few things would help narrow it down:

1. How old are you?

2. Are you planning to work while living in Thailand, work remotely for an overseas company, run a business, or not work at all?

3. Are you married to a Thai national or do you have any Thai family connections?

4. Roughly what level of income or savings do you have available?

5. Are you looking to move permanently, spend most of the year here, or just try Thailand for 6–12 months first?

6. Would you be comfortable paying for something like the Thailand Privilege programme, or are you looking for the lowest-cost legitimate option?

7. Do you have any particular qualifications or profession that could potentially qualify you for a work-related visa?

Once you know those things, it becomes much easier to compare the realistic options rather than recommending a visa that may not suit you.

Hello,

Now I would need to work in order to live there as I am not at retirement age yet, I have met someone there so travel there but now I would like to move and work but not sure what's the best avenue to take for this.
