Moving to Sri Lanka

Hello I wanted to ask some questions to anyone who has relocated to Sri Lanka.

i am a yoga instructor and also fitness coach as my profession I have 4 cats and next year I would like to relocate from Qatar to Sri Lanka. I am British.

I wanted to know if it’s easy enough to bring pets over and also finding work there for visa requirements is ok?

if it’s just me alone I will travel and find my feet but because I have 4 pets to think about I cannot move them around on a whim

any advice would be great

Hi Katie,

We brought our cat over from UK 4 years ago. The process was quite easy but we used an agent in Sri Lanka and UK to get all the nescessary clearance documents. There are a number of vaccinations required and you need to supply proof. The cats would need to be microchipped. Our agent picked the cat up from the airport and delivered to our home on day of arrival.

I'm not sure of work visas but there are a number approved business types and wellness is a major industry in Sri Lanka so you might want to look at opening something like that.

We might be able to help there as we plan to rent out our home in Waikkal (Kammala) next year. The property is near to 3 resort hotels. It's on just under half acre of flat landscaped land, ideal for your cats and ideal for your Yoga business. A couple of 100 metres away there's a Aryuvedic doctor.
