Comprehensive health insurance, as you may know from other countries (mainly in Europe), does not exist in Singapore. Most companies offer limited insurance packages with their employment contracts (usually covering only accidents and hospitalization, read the fineprint of yours!), but non-working people here are often un- or underinsured (which is less of an issue for locals, who get subsidized health care rates and can use their "CPF" forced savings for medical bills, too).

To improve on what your employer offers, you can choose from a wide range of add-ons from local insurers. Or you opt for an inernational (Expat) insurance like the ones linked to by Bhavna above. Depending on the coverage you choose, this can be comprehensive and expensive.
