Welcome on board :)

Thank you for posting except please note that this thread is a bit old and is dated 2013 :)

Maybe you didn't really pay attention - we will invite you to start a new topic on the Kuala Lumpur Forum with all your questions for better visibility :)

Thank you

There must be Armenians in Malaysia because there are Greeks and when you find one the other is not usually far behind.

I was just guessing an Armenian would likely have a food shop in Penang, not so much KL, and sure enough, had to laugh, when I googled it, it popped right up. Here are some links:

Yes...and I should have added that Armenians have a long history in Malaysia, since 1800-something I guess. Web says they congregated mostly in Malacca and Penang.

I was guessing food shops in Penang because when I have been to the Island I have noticed people who had to be Slavic, Greek, south Russian, Armenian, Baltic, Turkish, those types. I just didnt walk up and ask them--probably a mistake because they are all nice people to be friends with. Well, i did that once at Mid-Valley mall. There was a fellow selling homemade ice cream in the mall and I stopped and said, "you are a Turk!" and he laughed and said yes. We got to be friends. Malaysia is quite a world crossroad!

Here is an interesting link ( I was thinking, where is an armenian church around here?) Churches are a great way to find any group.

In there I found this:
"But by far the most famous Armenians in the region were the Sarkies brothers who made their mark as hoteliers of the Eastern & Oriental in Penang and of the Raffles in Singapore."    Thats quite impressive. I didnt know!
