Job prospect in Malaysia- Movement from INDIA to KL

moit1607

Is a movement from India to Kuala Lumpur a feasible option? This is on account of a job prospect from Air Asia in a Managerial role offering 20000 RM per month. I have 9 years of experience and would be looking for some answers from community members about the job prospects and if this is a good opportunity to leave the country.

Be careful are they asking you for money upfront? AirAsia is basically going bankrupt, it pays very low salaries and Malaysia isn't granting work permits to many foreigners. So make sure this is genuine.

The Malaysian economy, like large parts of the world is in a mess, and airlines are on their knees and this pandemic could go on years (even if it doesn't people will be cautious to fly and poorer). So if you are unemployed then any job is great! If you have a high paying and safe job.... stay.sounds better.

Manager of what btw? IT? I knew some Indians working at AirAsia. Low pay c7,000 RM as a manager and massive hours, 7 days a week and they a quit eventually. Maybe they are paying more as they need you, then great, but check this isn't a scam.

Thanks for your prompt response. The offer is still in initial phases and I certainly need to dig deep based on what you mentioned.
No one is still asking for any money but the offer has come through an external vendor. I also cross checked on their official website for the role and its existing there.

As a background, I am currently working in IT Aviation domain only as a Business Analyst.

Thanks again for taking time out and responding. Will post out the details for any progress.

Hi
I am not an expert in aviation industry but as I go by everyday news coming across, my suggestion is, if you are having job, please be there irrespective of salary part.
In India itself all aviation are in trouble and there is only layoffs...even Air India asked several pilots and crew members to go home.
And just understand, Pilots and crew members are professionally trained manpower required in the industry....now you can think of remaining support functions like accounting, front desk work, IT section, HR, Admin......etc. those who are in a real big trouble.

Take decision thoughtfully.

Checking online doesn't prove anything, best you independently contact AirAsia HR directly using a number you find yourself!

2018 news item in India about fake agents...

After a few fraudulent job emails in its name surfaced, AirAsia India has cautioned job-seekers against "certain recruitment agencies" attempting to mislead people by fictitiously posing as employees of the budget carrier

Ensure dial-in a correct number.....not given by vendor. Check website address properly.

I have to agree with the other posters here. Malaysia is very famous for job scams. Ignore any contact numbers of emails given by the agent and find the Air Asia HR department on your own and call them directly to verify that you personally have been offered the job. I would do it now rather than later.

Many people have lost their jobs during this pandemic and it would seem to be an opportune time for scammers to take advantage of this situation. Most importantly, you should not quit your job back home and you should never ever send a single penny to the agent. Fake job scammers may ask for people to advance pay for their visas, work permits or other reasons.

My sister in law was once offered a job in a top 5 star hotel in KL. She asked us to assist. We called the hotel and got the number for the HR Manager, suffice to say that she discovered that it was a scam. Her Italian colleague however did fall for a similar scam in Malaysia, he quit his job and sent some money and flew out only to find out that he had been scammed.

If might be a legitimate offer, we do not know. But just don't quit your job until you have verified the legitimacy of the offer yourself and do not send any money under any circumstances. Air Asia would never require that.
