It's called a Guardian Visa and it's only open to one parent/guardian. However, I do know of exceptions but only when there is offshore employment, i.e. the parent is visiting the family but employed outside Malaysia. The holder of the Guardian visa has to show monthly income into personal bank account. I am not sure what the level is these days, but guessing RM5k. The exception holder also has to show sufficient monthly income and proof of external employment contract. But with all exceptions, they are difficult to get and only in exceptional circumstances and may be time limited.
