Medical Insurance for an over 80 year old

G'day,

Does any one know if an 81 year old Australian moving to Malaysia permanently can get Medical Insurance in Malaysia. He is currently on Private Medical in Australia.

In addition does anyone know of companies that will cover an 81 year old for travel insurance?

You could possibly get a company to cover you but the premiums would be outrageously high. I am in my mid 60's on Gold Coast but reside with family in Laos. Medical cover for me was quoted at US$9300 per annum.

I suggest you Google search for both the travel and medical insurance.

I am quickly learning that being old has many pitfalls.....Medical coverage is one. Looks like I'll have to save my own medical fund for an emergency.
Yes most people ignore the fact that 26% tax comes with a hidden price. With kids people are better off in UK unless they earn double here.

For obvious reason who would insure an 81 year old man? That is why important to have  a large emergency fund.

You could try asking for insurance that has a very large excess and with restrictive cover to help you in case of very large emergency bills. Bur cancer care/heart attacks no way is that commercially viable
As what I know, travel insurance only cover up to 79 years old.
