My husband is working in Malaysia, and his employer applied for our Dependent Visas. Our application was submitted last August 26, but until now the status in the Malaysia portal still shows “pass approval stage.” It’s been more than 2 weeks already. Why is it taking so long without any progress? Meanwhile, for others, their visas were released in exactly 7 days. By the way, I from Philippines.

Hi there, from experience, they do carry out background checks with the home country since they have diplomatic relations. It is highly likely that the Philippines side has been slow. The Malaysian immigration has been super efficient for my friends and I. We are all expats (non white) and have been here for 16 years and more. No problem so far. Best to go to immigration office in Putrajaya to ask or talk to your husband's HR department who usually handles these things. Hope that helps.
