Scam or legit?

Well, when you visited them, what was it like? Did you go to the school and meet the head master, or did you just conduct your discussions in the offices of Top Offer? That will tell you quite a bit about the legitimacy of the organization. If you just went to the recruitment offices, then there might be a real disconnect between them and the teaching hospital.

If the entire affair was done on-line, then be very careful. Bait-and-switch used to be commonly practiced. In certain fields it still is. Be careful.

Back in 2004, I negotiated a promised teaching position on the internet. My salary was to be 15,000 RMB plus room. That was pretty decent rate at the time, and it still is today. When I arrived, no one came to pick me up, so I went to the school. The Head Master told me that because I came 10 minutes late that the position was no longer available in Shenzhen. (Yes. That is what he said.) However, he had another one for me nearby.

It was to teach in a daycare for young children. The Head Master there was a good friend of his.

He drove me to Danguang. It is a 45 minute drive from Shenzhen. My pay was changed to 3,000 RMB/month. I worked 12 hour days with one day off, and was locked in my apartment. It was for my own safety, I was told. I shared it with the rest of the staff and they were told to escort me everywhere, for my safety.

After two weeks, I crawled out of the window, made it to the bus station. Bought a ticket to my girlfriend in Shenzhen and escaped. Of course the Head Master could not understand why I left. Then I explained to him that I had family in SZ, and there was no way that I would move all the way to China and not be with them.

Be careful. You have to be careful. Everything on the Internet is suspect.

Never heard of them but if you're looking to teach and are a qualified teacher you can take your pick of jobs. There are hundreds of little employment agencies here in China. Look on echinacities or daves esl cafe and you will find oads of jobs.

Some schools play a dangerous game of taking on teachers and don't give them a proper work visa. If you are caught you will be in a lot of trouble, as will the school. A work visa is a difficult and time-consuming thing to get hence why some don't bother.

Don't take any excuses like "you can start working and we will get a visa for you later" etc. No visa No work. There are so many schools looking for teachers you should just pick another which can give you proer visa and is located somewhere exciting like Shanghai. Jiangsu is ok if you are in Nanjing or Suzhou but outside those two cities you will struggle to find people to hang out with or places to eat etc.

It's a sellers market.
