That price doesn't seem too bad for Phnom Penh.  A relatively cheap private  clinic here in Siem Reap charges $30 a day for in-patient care, plus doctors fee and medications,  x-rays etc,  comes to about $50 a day. I once had a week in the public hospital here  medical care was excellent,  facilities were crap, luckily had a gf who brought me food and washed me when I couldn't get to the shower. And that cost me $100 for a week,  plus medications.

That's a sad situation for the girl. I hope she will be cured soon.

When healthcare is at stake I would opt for the best hospital, which is Royal Phnom Penh hospital, absolutely state of the art.
Even when more expensive (although also $50 a day like Calmette) it pays off when the patient is cured in a short time and not pushed back and forth to a lesser quality hospital.

But if money is the main thing you have to rely on government hospitals that are much cheaper than private hospitals.

I don't know about a clinic on st 5 but knowing the area I don't think there is a clinic or hospital in that street but I could be wrong.

One hospital that I can recommend is the Khmer Soviet Friendship hospital.
I heard they are quite professional and not too expensive.

One note in general: never buy medicine in a hospital, they charge much more than a local pharmacy.
Just ask for the prescription and go to a pharmacy.

You can also skip the paracetamol and vitamins that they always prescribe.

Joe, thanks again for your valued information, it seems from others expats that the $50 hospital charges are the going rate, the good news is that the young lady left the hospital days and will go home to her provence to recuperate after losing 3kg. In weight, all’s well that ends well. Thanks.
