Opening a bank account in the Reunion Island

Julien

Hi all,

is it difficult for expats to open a bank account in the Reunion Island ?

Which documents are required to open a bank account in the Reunion Island ?

How long does it take to open it ?

Is there any restriction for expats regarding the services (loans for instance)  ?

Which bank would you recommend ?

Thanks in advance for your participation,

Julien

No its not difficult as long as you have a proof of adresse: electricity bill, rent contract, and a minimum deposit, id card - passport, and visa for your stay.

For the credit card you need to have proof of regular income.
You must take into account that bank service rates in Reunion are high. higher than france. Sometimes its better to open an account on online banking services like ING and such for cheaper and faster banking services.

the best bank in terms of rates in order of preference - la poste, caisse d'épargne, banque de la reunion , bfc, crédit agricole...
