What to bring and what to buy in Tripoli

Hi all. I´d like to know your experience about things you shipped or brought from your home countries and found out the same things in Libia, and cheaper. I have a lot of doubts about shipping baby stuff, craddle, "FEEDING CHAIR", changer and toys, and find out I can buy them cheaper than the shippment. I guess it´s worth to ship the expensive and heavy stuff like TV, computer, kitchen appliances...

Can anyone share similar experiences? I really don´t want to spend more money than needed.

Thanx in advance.

Hi mp_garcia

First I'd love to welcome u to Libya, I hope u a pleasant stay, about shipping stuff from where you are, I do not think it is a very good idea, most of the things here are cheaper than they are in Europe, as child's car seats are not very common here you would find them a bit high in price. so you may get one with you.

TVs and other electronics are quite cheap or similar in price as in Europe ( LG 32" LCD would cost about $450 ).

I hope you and your family safe comfy flight.

Salim
So I guess it´s easy to find baby stuff in Tripoli, I mean the "trona", the chair to feed them with a removable table, and the "changer" this peace of "furniture" that you can change the baby´s dippers, and if you lift up the mattres theres a little bathtub underneath it. The baby chair I guess we will bring as luggage.

Thax in advance!
,,, almost forgot... Thanks Samakauk!!!!
mp...you can buy most children's things here, BUT, they are often poor quality Chinese copies.

The genuine Chicco, Mamas & Papas things are very expensive - assuming you can find them in the first place. I'd recommend that you bring as much as you'll need.

I agree with Sandman on this - it's hard to find specific products made by specific companies in Tripoli.  The price you pay also depends on who you are (expat markup).

Thanx guys, althought I haven´t decided what to do... to ship 3m3 from Madrid will cost me like 1500 euros, quite expensive...
If that's an all inclusive price, it's not bad!
Yeap, it´s a door to door price. It´s not bad if the things you ship are expensive stuff. Since I have to wait to decide it, I´ll check things in Tripoli first, the shipment would probably be made by my wife if I decide we can stay....
Damn shame I don't have any connections in Spain, I'd be tempted to go halves on the cost and send some things over myself!
Is the price that good? Well, I´ll have that in mind to make my decision. If I can help you with anything, you just have to say it!! Cheers!
