Yes, Jakarta International School is quite good. The city is very modern with a large numbers of expats community. Everything is easy to get. English is widely spoken.We have no idea and basically clueles when it comes to this part of the world. From what I understand from reading every topics in this forum, looks like it may take a lot of courage and patience to be able to adapt to the culture and way of living. And on top of that, we are in the process of applying entry visa and we already realize it is not that easy esp if you were US citizen. I can just imagine that we are going to have tough time to communicate esp when there is legalities, contracts involved when you're trying to get the housing, buying cars, paying bills, getting the utilities. That is why we like to be prepared and esp. when it comes to the education of the children, definitely that is no 1 priority.

BTW,we have been in Jakarta for just about a year. The first 6 months,it was miserable for us just to get used to the new everything,the way the local do things, evrything takes time.
Now, we are anticipate probably it is gonna be sam ething in Libya. We are just hoping that this time we will stay longer enough to get rid of that first 6 month depression mode and to enjoy the country and the cultures. Just wish us luck.

Patience is the key here my friend. I have been in Tripoli for about a month and am still in my hotel, my company has got me a brand new apartment and tried to get me to move into it with no TV, no Internet access, oh and the cooker wasn't even wired in . The people are great, the food very good and the driving is nuts. Depends on which company you are coming over to work for here as to what standard of accommodation you get etc.

The american International school is new - 5 years but growing.  Good academic reputation, good community of learners. Students from 35 nations this year. 

My daughter hates it, but that's because she wants to be home in states.  Not gonna happen.  She also hates it cause it's so hard - and we were in a highly rated public school system before.

Hi justice4pal, we are from Houston now station in Jakarta and soon will be moving to Tripoli. My kids love the school in JKT when we moved here last year and now somewhat skeptical about the school in Libya. It's hard trying to convince them  if I don't know much about the school. I'm also concerned about the prep for preSAT/ACT or any advanced level programs ie. gifted/talented program or IB program offered by the school. And the teachers at the school, are they certified/accredited teachers? I know some schools overseas sometimes hire the wives of expatriates with no teaching background to teach in their school. I did talk to the director at Astripoli but I feel like talking to the parents that actually send their kids there would be beneficial as well as maybe from another perspective.
