Here's an itinerary that was passed on to me last week. No guarantees to it's accuracy.

Apparently, Monday 31st August is ALSO a public holiday but I have no idea what's been organized for this day.

Day 1 - 1st Sept: 2pm Reception Red Castle for the foreign dignitaries, followed by a red carpet exit to watch the Military Parade at 4pm

8pm Ifta dinner at Red Castle

10pm Opening Ceremony - 2.5 hours long

Part 1 - 40th Anniversary of the Libyan Revolution

Part 2 10th Anniversary of the African Union

800 dancers from Le Public System, Paris - performing on the stage in African costume with massive lit up 3-d animals and huge African masks

Fireworks on 2 large ships with unveiling of a huge monument of all the flags of Africa forming the shape of the continent

Finale - Massive firework display from the two ships moored opposite Green Square

Day 2 - 2nd Sept:
-->  Military Tattoo during day in Tripoli featuring 18 different countries

Sabratha and Leptis Magna theatres :  2 concerts
--> Leptis Magna Concert featuring famous a Arabic singer and Arabic opera

--> Sabratha concert detailing the Twareg story, culture and heritage with sword dance

--> Ghadames - 40 hot air balloons 2 hours before sunset for 2 hours in the sky the North America experience for the VIP's with Twareg performance

Day 3 - Alfaw at Farwah - Nikki beach theme for VIP's

4 or 5 charity events (unspecified)

1-6 Sept Libya by Light in Tripoli, Benghazi, Ghadames, Sabratha, Leptis Magna, Cyrene

1-6 Sept Circus for general public in Benghazi - 2 performances a day

BTW - you are correct on tomorrow being a holiday as well. 

The Tripoli Post has done an article stating they are expecting 750k people to attend these celebrations and has disclosed a few of the things that will be going on, (seems as though Sandman is bang on as usual, this man is a genius:D). 

Hope you are all planning to attend what could be a crazy incredible once in a lifetime opportunity - be safe, keep a low profile and hope to see you there!

Just imagine what'll happen if the quality of their flying is as good as their driving!

And we are not sure about going to the city center...

There will be huge crowd and we'll be with the baby... Maybe we can see the fireworks from the roof

If the fireworks are as big as Gadda's ego, you'll see them from Malta....

Here at the guesthouse on Gargarish, we've been watching the fly-by practises. There's a terrace on the 7th floor overlooking Gargarish and the sea. From it, we've got a great view.  We've seen a squadron of about 9 jets (doubt they're made in America), some props (aka bikes with training wheels), a tanker and two jets. 

Here's something worth seeing - We're across from the Maritime building (the big blue glass one next to a gas station).  They spent Saturday wrapping it in white parachute cloth and put a large, lit balloon on top.  At night there's a slide show projected on it - the Colonel of course..  Looks good except when it's windy, then the Colonel, despite the heroic poses in the desert overlooking the sea looks a lot worse for wear.

Think it's the Frecci Tricolori - the Italian AF display team. Blue Aeromacchi trainer jets with white stripes on the wings.

The Libyans fly MiG-29, Sukhoi-22 and a few MiG-25s

he is crazy about what he did , and he trying hard to make ppl remember what he did for them,,even tough he took this country down and more down in everyday ,, anyway

we having good life here even tough no one like it ,,but its good  for ppl  living in content like africa
