can I stay 90 days on Sschengen visa???

owais.truefriend

I have a question regarding Schengen visa, suppose if I ask visa from the embassy only for 19 days and embassy approved my visa then later I wish to stay till 90 days i.e. if I wish to avail the maximum period of Schengen short term visa will I be allowed to stay till 90 days?
Please reply me.

Hi,

only the Embassy has the exact response ...

No, the length of validity of any visa is actually up to the officer who issues it. While the maximum validity may be standardized the individual validity of any visa is not. It is decided at the moment of issue.

If you ask for a 19 day visa and they issue one that is valid only for 19 days then you can't even go back and get that changed. It will remain at 19 days during the (5 year/10 year) useful life of the document.

Also, being granted a visa in itself does not give any guarantee whatsoever that one will be permitted to enter a country. That determination is made only at the moment of disembarking, by a Customs and Immigrations officer of the particular country. Your entry can be (and often is) refused for any number of reasons; none of which they are obligated to tell you.

Are all of these postings just "What ifs?" or do you actually plan on applying for a Schengen Area visa???? You've asked enough of them to write a book and some questions so technical that only a Consulate could give you an answer. Certainly you're not going to find too many international experts on visas here on the blog.

I am applying for finland visa through the dutch embassy but if I would have money and time I would like to visit another schengen country as well. Is it necessary to tell in advance? I think if I get finland visa then technically I am eligible to travel any schengen country. What do you suggest?

I am applying for 88 days stay in finland.

you've had several suggestions to call the embassy/consulate, after having had lots of responses from different people here. Our advice is at best anecdotal! If you want to be really sure and safe, best to call the experts.

How many Schengen visa topics does one site need?  Can't all these questions about the same thing be in the same place?

I refer all people looking to obtain Schengen visa to the response from the founder, Julien.
