Good schools for my 4year old Son in Kualalumpur

Hi friends
We will be relocating to Kualalumpur early next year from New Delhi,India. Our son is 4y+ currently
Please suggest some good schools for my son in KL.we would also be aiming to look for an apartment near the school.hence it's priority for us to decide on the school first.. Since my husband keeps moving between countries..we want to enrol our son in a curriculum which is recognized and acceptable internationally.

Regards,
Rohank

You could check what your budget can provide to shortlist schools.  https://www.international-schools-datab … ala-lumpur or http://schooladvisor.my/ You don't mention where the office is located which is important as well.

The UK curriculum is convenient worldwide, but at 4 yrs of age it does not matter that much. The International Baccalaureate is also very flexible. The Cambridge curriculum is available at the Global Indian International School. It offers Montessori for the youngest and has Hindi lessons (English being the daily language).

Havil International School is quite popular with Indian families because of its proximity to Brickfields, having UK curriculum and being affordable. However it will depend on whether your child can already speak English, which schools are best or even can offer ESL English courses.

Thanks Gravitas!

Well Didn't see many good reviews of Havil & GIIS... My husband's office is going to be Jalan tun Razak.. Do you recommend any other good schools which encourage more practical & conceptual learning rather than just theory.. My Son can understand English well and also speak basic English. looking for a good school as we might be spending next few years in KL and don't want to get into hassle of changing school frequently..

Take a look at Taylors International School KL (it's quite a competitive school) - http://www.tis.edu.my/

I have friends who have a child at Fairview who are very satisfied (the style of teaching is very investigative) - http://www.fairview.edu.my/fv_live/kuala-lumpur-campus/

Usually Indian families wish to minimise their expenses while being expats as its a good time to make some savings, hence the first suggestions.

Jln Tun Razak is many kilometers long and not well served by public transport in some parts. Thinking about where to live will be important. Jalan Ipoh is another quarter favoured by Indian expat families.

If your hubby is going to do battle with the traffic and drive to work, then you could consider living in Mont Kiara or Damansara in which case British School in KL has one of the best reputations, but the fees are correspondingly high.- https://britishschool.edu.my/ Altogether, that option would at least double or even triple your expenses. MK also has Garden International School.

Hi Thank you for very helpful information since my kids also is going go go to school next year. Appreciate for all the information.

I am looking at a budget of 5k/mth for my kids education..I have heard good reviews about GIS but will it fit in my budget?

Appreciate your help!

Hi Weppilan

Which schools are you considering??

Hi Rohank,

Actually, my budget is not very high at the moment and when I am considering several points, I perfer chinese private schools as first option to well-known international schools even my kids doesn't speak Chinese at all, but it is also true that good chinese school is not easy to get enroll in as well.

Yeah that is true but I am not able to get a clear idea from their website.it seems 5k will not include other costs like school bus, uniform, books etc.. we have allocated 5k max for our kids total schooling cost..

hi rohank,

I am curious as to where you finally ended up taking admission and why?

ashme

Hi Ashme..

I enrolled my Son in The Children's House, Ampang for following reasons..
well established school..
Montessori curriculum..
Good teachers and environment
Appeared to be child friendly which helped my Son to settle down faster in the new environment and culture..

Regards!
