Dealing with homesickness in Ukraine

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Ukraine can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Ukraine? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

I don't get home sick but I sure miss quality service at a restaurant.  By quality I mean, quality of food, service, and cleanliness.

So many visitors think that this country is cheap but it's not.  Bang for the buck, the service at all levels is so low it's sad.   Some places will  literally serve meat that's off. Not all are like this but many are quite bad.  ie Puzata Hata......    Even Mc D is horrible in Ukraine.   Half filled fries.   Stale buns, etc etc etc.

The only way to overcome this is to go to a major hotel such as Radisson, HIlton, Intercontinental, etc, and enjoy your meal and service there.   It costs more but at least you'll enjoy your food and have a pleasant time.
