American ESL teacher in China looking to meet / greet /teach in Egypt

Title 'bout says it.

Hey folks, been in China about 3 years, kind of looking
for a different environment.

Would rather teach for an Egyptian school.

Any info in this context would be super!

Thanks
Malaz

What kind of school are you looking for? Are you a certified teacher?

I don't have a teaching cert. but I'm degreed and have a TESL cert (Chinese).

I thought about teaching at an international school but working for a Chinese school has really given me the cultural experience i was looking for.

I've noted that expat communities/intl. schools are kind of insular. Like...why go to China to teach if your coworkers, your students and neighbors aren't Chinese...yah know?

If you're aware of a reputable Egyptian school, that'd be great.

I completely agree! I, too, preferred to teach Egyptian children than expat children.

Check out the International School of Choueifat

You don't need a teaching cert...they do a bit of their own training as they have their own "system" and "curriculum" they have developed. The teaching can be kind of boring because you have to follow their system to the letter...but it's one of the more recognized schools that you can work at without certification.

Check out these links, too, good info:

Thanks much.

The guy on the ESL forum was so funny. Sounds like he needs to move down a couple of grades. I never work with teens, they're all crazy. (Doesn't matter where you're from):)

The other thing is that the male dominated culture is essentially the same here...except it's worse, because of the "one child" policy.

Fortunately, I work in the Elementary field, so kids are still afraid of being sent to the office and such things. ;)

I imagine it would be true in the Middle East as well.

Yah, not sure about that program you mentioned, I'm kinda free-agent in my teaching style...donno if I could deal
with such restrictions.

I'll check it out though. Thnx
